Archive Bank Flanders naturally complies with the existing laws on the protection of personal data, in particular and above all the provisions of the
Royal Decree of 13 February 2001
implementing the Act of 8 December 1992 on privacy protection with regard to the processing of personal data. Furthermore, the
Act of 31 August 1998 transposing into Belgian law
the European Directive of 11 March 1996 on the legal protection of databases applies. Given the fact that non-anonymous and unencoded personal data on still-living persons are
included in the Archive Bank, the database will be reported to the
Privacy Protection Commission and an exemption from the reporting duty will be requested. Before material
in the Archive Database is released to the public, the participant is always consulted.
